KID KEYS
Davidson's Kid Keys: The Magical Typing Tutor (for ages 4 to 8) brings the keyboard to life! A talking dragon, giggling monsters, and a whole cast of other zany characters help children build keyboarding and early reading skills. Three activities -- Magic Keyboard, Dragon Tunes and Monster Rescue -- provide a playful, interactive environment that helps children progress from learning key positions to typing smoothly and accurately.
Unlike other typing programs, Davidson's Kid Keys was designed specifically for young children! The type is large and easy to read. The program takes an alphabetical approach that encourages children to build early reading skills while they learn key locations. And accuracy is stressed over speed, so children can learn at their own pace. In addition, constant reinforcement is provided through talking characters, music, animation and sound effects.
All the graphics in Kid Keys were drawn and animated by Keith Robinson. They include talking bears, whales, frogs, robots, even ice cream cones. His favorite, though, is the zebra, because its voice was supplied by Keith himself.
Kid Keys was produced by Quicksilver Software for Davidson and Associates. Kid Keys is no longer available, but you can learn more about Quicksilver Software's educational games at their web site, www.quicksilver.com.
In addition to the above games, Keith Robinson has provided storyboards and conceptual designs for dozens of other video and computer games, released and unreleased. Most of these were done for Realtime Associates and for Quicksilver Software. He has also designed the packaging and/or written the instructions for many other games, including most of those released from 1986 to 1989 by INTV Corporation for the Intellivision system.
